The Second Extraordinary Inter-American Congress of Philosophy was held in July 1961 in San José, Costa Rica. It was organized by the Asociación Costarricense de Filosofía (ACOFI), in cooperation with the Sociedad Interamericana de Filosofia, with the support of the government of Costa Rica. The Actas were published for ACOFI by the Imprenta Nacional de Costa Rica. In a unique gesture of support for philosoiphy, the President of this Congress was named acting President of Costa Rica for the duration of the Congress.
