The Fourth Inter-American Congress of Philosophy and First Congress of the Sociedad Interamericana de Filosofía was held in July 1956 in Santiago de Chile. It was organized by the Sociedad Chilena de Filosofía, with support from the Chilean Ministry of Public Education and several Chilean universities. The theme of the congress was “La Filosofía en el mundo contemporáneo”.

Open Access

An exposition of philosophical texts was organized for the Congress, with a focus on contemporary philosophical work available in Chile. The catalog of this exposition was the first publication produced under the auspices of the Sociedad Interamericana de Filosofía. It was prepared as a bibliographic guide for the formation of philosophy collections in public, private, and school libraries.
